VITAMIN B2, RIBOFLAVIN: This is another essential vitamin. Deficiencies of this vitamin may result in certain forms of liver trouble, anemia, muscular weakness in the hind legs; dermatitis on the hind legs, chest, and abdomen; and sore eyes. The best natural sources of vitamin B2 are liver and yeast. Other excellent sources are soy flour, beans, eggs, wheat germ, cheese, and milk. Dogs that are fed meat and milk or a standard dog food will rarely be affected by a deficiency of this vitamin. It is therefore fairly uncommon in the wellkept house dog.
Lameness can also be caused by the rupture of ligaments or tendons. It is sufficient to state that these must be given immediate treatment, otherwise treatment is of no avail and the animal stands a chance of becoming permanently lame because the owner was too lethargic to get around to submitting the animal to proper treatment on time.
On dog food packages how much protein is in the food is indicated. But finding out how much protein is in the food is not as important as knowing what source the protein came from.

The “Stop” command is often taught in conjunction with the “Heel” command, but it is better not to attempt to teach it until the animal is quite thoroughly accomplished in the art of heeling. While walking the animal, stop and give the command “Stop” at the same time. Make the animal stop and also stand on all fours. Do not permit the animal to sit. Repeat the procedure until the animal masters the idea. As with heeling, the acid test is to make the animal repeat the performance without a leash.

Each eye of a dog has three eyelids, the main upper and lower lids and a third lid hidden between them in the inner corner of the eye. The third eyelid can sweep across the transparent cornea of the eye and clean it like a windshield wiper.

If your pet dog has large, smelly stool, is gaseous, burps often, sheds constantly, is prone to ear and skin infections, has either no energy or is hyperactive and if his immune system is weak, something may be wrong with your pet’s diet. Although any or a combination of these symptoms may occur occasionally, having them recur often is a cause for concern and reviewing your pet’s diet is one of the first things you should look into.
