sulfer
acne treatment
Sodium sulfacetamide-sulfur topical
is used in the treatment of acne, rosacea, and seborrheic dermatitis (a
red, flaking skin rash). Sulfur acne treatments are not a new
concept
by any means. The reason that sulfur acne treatments are an effective
choice is because sulfur can clean out the pores and break down
whiteheads and blackheads. It is not a good idea to use sulfur acne
treatment on sunburned or irritated skin, since the products may make
your current condition worse. Known as "nature's beauty mineral,"
sulfur fights acne and other skin disorders such as dandruff and
seborrheic dermatitis or flaky, reddish skin. Do not apply sodium
sulfacetamide-sulfur topical to large areas of open, broken, burned, or
infected skin. Serious side effects are not likely to occur with the
use of sodium sulfacetamide-sulfur topical.
Treating acne at home can be
a daunting task. To combat internal stressors and prevent acne
problems, here are some suggestions. Get plenty of rest and sleep a
recommended average of eight hours per night. Try to maintain regular
hours each day, regardless of which shift your work. Some say to
focus
on reducing SWAT: reduce your stress, worry, anxiety and tension, so
journal a little each day mentioning any “SWAT” stressors you’ve felt.
And focus on those that may seem overwhelming or to be taking too long
to “end,” seeking help from others or other resources as needed for
stress management. Check with your dietician or healthcare
provider to
establish and follow a regular well-balanced dietary and exercise plan
of action to keep your body healthy on the inside and outside.
Keep a
check list of “Things that Calm You” handy for stressful times, like
reading a book, resting, listening to music, taking a walk, going out
for an ice cream cone, etc.
Nodules are more likely
to leave permanent scars than other types of acne. Most serious
scarring
is caused by more severe acne, and the best way to deal with it is to
be proactiv and
get treatment soon after the acne appears If you have nodules, see your
doctor or dermatologist right away. He or she will assess your
acne and
will probably prescribe some combination of topical gels or
creams. The
doctor may also prescribe antibiotic pills, oral contraceptives for
some teen girls with acne
(the hormones in birth control pills can help
control acne in some cases), or other medication such as isotretinoin
if the acne is severe.
