Over the past few years CoQ10 has gained considerable attention as an agent capable of influencing cellular bioenergetics and counteracting some of the damage caused by free radicals. Animal studies provide increasing support for a beneficial effect of CoQ10 supplements in disease, particularly neurodegenerative diseases and atherosclerosis. These results are encouraging and warrant further investigation, including clinical studies that directly assess a health benefit of CoQ10 supplements in humans.
Reverse the damage imposed by reactive oxygen and nitrogen species. One problem with this hypothesis is that animals and humans that have been given supranutritional levels of selenium and show lower cancer rates generally do not have elevated selenoprotein levels. However, in support of the hypothesis, supplemental selenium has been shown to increase the levels of certain selenoproteins in cultured cells, and it is possible that in vivo, synthesis of selenoproteins in certain cells and tissues undergoing oxidative stress may be important for cell homeostasis and preservation of genome integrity.
Trace elements like boron, nickel, silicon, tin, and vanadium are not necessary since they may not even be required by humans..
Vitamin E is an essential fat-soluble vitamin that includes eight naturally occurring compounds in two classes designated as tocopherols and tocotrienols. Each of these compounds exhibits different biological activities. d-a-Tocopherol has the highest biological activity and is the most widely available form of vitamin E in food. The other isomers ( beta, delta, gamma), some of which are more abundant in a typical Western diet, are less biologically active than d-a-tocopherol. The commercially available synthetic forms of vitamin E are comprised of approximately an equal mixture of eight stereoisomeric forms of a-tocopherol, usually in the esterified form such as acetate or succinate. For practical purposes, 1 International Unit (IU) of vitamin E represents 1 mg of the synthetic form, racemic a-tocopherol acetate, while the natural form of d-a-tocopherol has a biopotency of vitamin E equal to at least 1.49 IU, if not more. The most widely accepted biological function of vitamin E is its antioxidant properties
The B-vitamins and vitamin C are water-soluble, which means that they dissolve in water and are carried throughout the body in the bloodstream. The body does not store most water-soluble vitamins with the exception of vitamin B-12. Other than B-12, the body uses what it needs and the kidneys excrete any excess water-soluble vitamins in the urine..
What is clear from our research and the research published by others is that vitamin C levels decline with age, just as the body appears to need it the most. Although good dietary practices may maintain adequate levels of vitamin C in young adults, we believe that a larger intake of vitamin C may be required in the elderly to lead to optimal health. |

A
Protein Dietary Supplement. Only Better.
Immunocal is a bonded cysteine dietary supplement. What is bonded
cysteine, exactly? It's simply the name of
elements with unique
benefits, which are found in certain special proteins. Immunocal is a
protein supplement whose benefits reach far beyond nutrition, by virtue
of the high amount of bonded cysteine it contains. In fact, Immunocal
is considered a "nutraceutical" and is different from other protein
supplements in its ability to support the immune system.
